Clare County CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition

has been involved with….

 

·        Dr. Hackley, National CHARACTER COUNTS! Trainer/Advocate, visited and presented to many groups within the community. Including: teachers, community members, and businesses. August 2001

 

·        Human Aide taught CHARACTER COUNTS! in every elementary and middle school in Clare County. An 8-week program that incorporated prevention and CC! which reached 2,105 elementary children in Clare, Farwell and Harrison schools.

 

·        Celebrated National CC! Week by distributing bookmarks to every elementary school in Clare County. Also, radio ads were done and a guest editorial, written by John Haycook. October 2001 and 2002

 

·        Incorporated CC! activities in after school program with 4-H Club Read and Mid Michigan Community Action Agency.

 

·        A CHARACTER COUNTS! Resource Library was formed and is located in the MSU Extension office. Materials available include: books, videos, workbooks, pencils, and handouts.

 

·        Banner made with CC! Logo and contact information.

 

·        Participated in the St. Patrick’s Day Irish Parade in Clare.  We handed out our new CC! pencils and walked with our banner. March 2002 and 2003

 

·        Presentations made throughout the year about CHARACTER COUNTS! to: schools, teachers, businesses, and community meetings.

 

·        Sent members to the CC! Summit held is Isabella County where surrounding counties gather to brainstorm and share ideas.  September 2002

 

·        Clare County has had 11 people attend national train the trainer seminars to teach CC! to kids, teachers, parents, community members, and businesses.
